About Leonard
Leonard Friesenhahn is the Interim Director of Utilities Engineering, Strategic Programs & Process Improvement for UT Austin's Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) department. He has over 30 years of professional experience in several industries, including power plant maintenance, engineering, and project management. Leonard has worked with UEM for nearly 25 years and previously served as a Project Manager for eight years before taking on his current role.
He is passionate about solving maintenance and operational problems within distribution systems and building utility systems. As director, he provides guidance based on his engineering expertise and institutional knowledge to support the design and construction teams executing capital improvement projects on campus seeking best-value solutions that provide long-term, reliable service.
Leonard has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
